PAIN RELIEF WITH KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology and physical pain
A sore knee, an aching shoulder, a pain in your neck, an uncomfortable back, a sporting injury – these are common scenarios that you may have experienced in the past or are dealing with currently.
Pain to any area of the body is disruptive and disturbs your ability to participate fully in your life.
Pain is a warning
Pain can be a signal that something is wrong and is a clear message that we need to pay attention to our bodies. You may need to have the area checked out by a medical professional to see what’s going on.
You do not have to live with pain
However, what if you have sought medical assistance and there is residual pain and you have been told to “live with the discomfort.” Or perhaps your doctor has said that pain medication is the only way to control your pain. Or what if you are awaiting surgery for several months to ‘fix’ the issue yet are stuck with unpleasant sensations until you reach your surgery date. In these cases, kinesiology may be a helpful tool to create comfort and improve function through natural and safe techniques for reducing pain.
Pain as an energy imbalance
In Kinesiology and Acupuncture, pain can be a result of blocked or imbalanced energy flow in the body. By identifying and addressing these energy imbalances, the body’s natural energy flow can be restored, promote healing, and alleviate pain.
Origins of pain – let’s uncover the root cause
Pain can have physical origins, but it can also have emotional and mental components which will be addressed during your session to help you uncover the root cause of the issue. For example, why is it that when work stress increases your back blows out or your digestion plays up? We can help you identify patterns within your pain experiences so the weakest link in the chain doesn’t break when stress happens.
What would you do if you were free of pain?
A powerful and important part of the session to address pain is goal setting. You’ll set a goal that will help to shift the over-energy into the “thing you would do if you were free of the pain.” We focus on what you want…rather than the pain. So, stop and take a moment now, and ask yourself – “What would I be doing if I were free of pain?”
How we work together with your goal
Once you’ve determined your goal, we’ll do some pre-activities, look at your range of motion, and see how the pain is impacting you. Then we will use the biofeedback tool of muscle testing to determine the priority technique for you to achieve your goal, to reach equilibrium and re-gain comfort.
We might use a regional muscle protocol where we test and correct the muscles around a particular area. It might involve specific pain relief techniques such as meridian work or muscle energy pain relievers. Or any number of techniques from our toolkit that can help you reach your goal.
A client’s experience with relieving knee pain
A recent client in her 70’s was experiencing knee pain. Her orthopedic surgeon reported that said she has no meniscus in her knee and is scheduled for a knee replacement in a few months. She was experiencing daily pain, trouble sleeping due to the pain, and decreased range of movement in her knee joint. She can now squat, walk up the stairs without holding a railing, walk her grandkids to school, and is excited for an active sightseeing tour to Europe next month. Change is possible!
“I am ever so thankful for visiting Erin for some kinesiology sessions.I was almost needing a walking aid due to knee pain, but after one visit with Erin, I was able to walk down the stairs freely and am currently pain free!
Erin has also helped me with my eating habits enabling me to feel so much better about myself.
I cannot recommend Erin and her skills highly enough!”
